How to connect my Sony Bravia TV to my 2.1 Frontech Speakers

Hi

I have a Sony Bravia TV which is connected to the Set top box of my TV channel provider. I have a 2.1 sound system.

The Audio output from the set top box is connected to the audio input of the TV.

There is an audio output port in the TV, but I wanted to know do I need a receiver to connect the TV with the 2.1 speakers? The subwoofer has an audio input port of course.

Is the audio receiver necessary?

If your speakers are self powered you don't need a receiver.
If the audio output of the TV is fixed volume you would have to use the speakers volume control to adjust volume.
