I have an Yamaha receiver without any HDMI output. I bought a new Sony UHD 4K TV and when I plugged in the rca cables from my receiver to the TV there is no sound. I've checked the connections to make sure they are input correctly, which they are...still no sound.

If your Sony has RCA audio outputs, make sure they are enabled somewhere in the TV' settings. Make sure you've selected correct audio input on your receiver. With cable unplugged from the TV, touching the center pin of the RCA cable should produce humming sound in your receiver.

I have tried to adjust the audio settings in my TV but there is no sounds. Audio input is set correctly in my receiver. I will try touching the center pin to see if it produces the humming sound. I know my receiver works when I've used it with other TVs in the house.

I had the same issue. Make sure You are connecting to right HDMI port of TV which is marked as ARC to Reveiver. Sony TV has HDMI 3 port as ARC. Also make sure HDMI is turned on in Reveiver.

Check that you connected the cable to the correct input. After that make sure the receiver is working by playing a different source. Then check the TV manual to find the menu that you may need to turn on the TV output. You can connect headphones to the TV to check it too.
