How to connect Samsung 48" J5500 tv to Panasonic stereo system

My tv has audio out sockets and my stereo has aux in sockets but I'm unable to get any sound through my stereo speakers. Can anybody advise as to what the issue may be?

You may have to go into the setup screens of the TV to enable the audio out and disable the internal speakers ....

I've tried that but it still makes no difference

Are you sure you have analog stereo output on the TV? Specs show only optical audio out and if your Panasonic is a stereo system it would not have optical input.
If you need to convert the optical to analog you need one of these
