how to connect to amp

hi please help me to connect my tv with my amp i have pretty old soniq tv L42V11A-AU model no. it has hdmi and coaxial option and normal audio and video option i have a panasonic 5.1 sound system with simple amp which has optical cable and coaxial option i have tried to make connection using coaxial and rca leads but haven't got any success can anyone please give me any suggestion thank you.

The TV has coaxial digital audio output (1 RCA jack).
If the Panasonic has a single RCA jack labeled digital input (usually orange in color). Then connect a 75 ohm RCA cable. Just about any video cable will work. You may need to turn the audio output on and configure it for surround in the TV menu. Here is a link to the manual

Not really sure why you would have issues connecting them if both have optical audio connections. Did you make sure the TV is set to use the audio output in the options? Receiver is set to the correct inputs?
