how to convert samsung sch-e189 cdma to gsm

when i put on the phone without a sim card am told to insert UIM card buh when i insert a sim card,service provider space is blank but contacts displays..i dont know if i have to flash the device or unlock it....please i need ypur help on this

A SIM card is not a UIM card. Your phone is CDMA locked.
