how to convince yourself to settle for what you have knowing you CANNOT get more?

an i5 540m(first gen) and a quadro nvs5100 (a 370 passmark gpu) is what i have. needless to say how utterly weak it is by 2016 standards. there you go i just had to say. broke and can't afford to buy another laptop (budget is 1000 dollars tops) and can't bring myself to buy less than a 970m,and even 970m isn't satisfactory to me. this piece of junk .ran battlefield 4 on absolute minimum btw, solid 60 fps too, beats the hell outta me how it did... 2 fps on crysis 3 though.
PS: i wish i could get a desktop. but i intend to move outta the country for studies in a year or so.
there you have it . convince me to settle for less.

learn to become an entrepreneur. earn much more money. then you can buy whatever you want, no settling.

otherwise, realize that food is more useful than a GPU, and a house or apartment keeps you more comfy in winter than a 4k screen.

not a single capable machine in 6 years. at some point it gets on your nerves you know. and it isn't just the gaming, but also work and studies. well i'll just suck it up like the rest of those years, this time for good apparently. no laptop till this pan i'm typing on now fries.congrats, you sir have made me 1k richer.

Since I prefer to continue living (well... at least for the moment) I would settle for less.

I've had to "adjust" my standards over the years,.Here's what I did,.
I waited and saved my cash,.You can build a killer PC just by giving it a couple of years,do your homework and be patient,.the deals are there,.
Invest your $ smartly,.and yes you won't have the "newest and best" out there,but you will still be able to have a kick butt PC,.

I just bought a used 2013 Dell Percision T1650 with a I7 3770 on E-Bay for $230.00,.came with 8 gigs of ram and a 1TB HD,.I dumped another 325.00 into it and it is a beast and I am damn proud of it,..

My wife usually convinces me to buy new office clothes instead of upgrades. She is also a gamer but says that our computer is powerful enough if it has more than minimum specs for current year games. Some lenovo Z series (ugly heavy laptops) have quite nice specs, but I wouldn't game on a laptop, just doesn't feel right.
