Almost works - after step 5 (replacing the "www" with "mbasic" - I'm taken to the "ugly" view but not the correct video. Instead, I'm taken to a feed of video recommendations in the mbasic format.

This worked perfectly for me, on my Linux Desktop using Firefox. There is some
loss of resolution, maybe due to converting from Desktop to mobile then back to desktop again.
