How to enable wireless on hp laptop

I pressed f12 which has a (( l )) like symbol & an amber light, but no response?

As long as the amber light is on that means your wifi is on. next find a wifi network to connect to. You'll find that next to the clock.

Thanks for your reply. i ended up running system restore & am now able to connect to internet. So i'm connected again --- for the moment!
wi-fi light is now white
