How to Fix a Frozen Application in your MacBook Pro

Even though the MacBook Pro is a really high functioning PC, there are times when an application may just freeze. This usually happens while you are carrying out bigger tasks such as editing a video, and this can be a real annoyance. However, what is even more annoying is the inability to close the application and re-open it. You can choose to close it by clicking on the red button or right clicking on the app icon and selecting quit, but neither of them is going to work for a frozen app.
Previously there was an option available called ‘force quit’ if you right clicked on an app’s symbol but of recent Apple has removed this option. But this is not entirely true. While this option is not available here, it is not totally removed and can still be used to quite frozen apps. Here’s how you can do this:

Step 1
When your app freezes click on the screen space outside the app.

Step 2
Click on the ‘Apple Icon’ on top left corner of the screen.

Step 3
In the drop down menu select the ‘Force Quit’ option.

Step 4
A dialog box will appear with the all running apps mentioned in it.

Step 5
Select the frozen app from the list and click on the ‘Force Quit’ option.

Step 6
A prompt will appear, confirm it by clicking again on ‘Force Quit’.

Once you confirm it the frozen app should automatically close. While this feature should not be used too often and rather the long term solution is to get the app fixed or the PC serviced, it can be of great help at times when your app is frozen and nothing seems to be able to close it.
