How to get pictures off a phone that wont turn on

My old phone is broken but I want pictures off of it and i have the exact same type phone now how do i get the old pictures if theyre not backed up on my google account?

If they are on the phone's internal storage, and not on say an SD card, then there would be no way to get them without fixing the phone.
