How to Mail Files Up to 5GB Using your MacBook Pro

Anyone who has ever used a Windows based system and has had to mail files which are larger in size, knows the amount of hassle involved in getting them across. Signing up to an online cloud, uploading the file, getting a shareable link, making sure it works, and finally mailing it to someone – this is what it entails. However, with the MacBook Pro’s Mail Drop feature, these problems belong to the past. Using Mail Drop a user can send up to 5GB as attachments in a single mail, but first you will need to sign in to your iCloud account.

'Sign In' To Your iCloud Account
Follow the steps below to sign in to your iCloud account.

Step 1
Open the 'System Preferences' tab from the menu.

Step 2
Click on the 'iCloud' icon and launch the app.

Step 3
'Sign In' into your iCloud account using your Apple ID.

Now you are ready to use Mail Drop.

Steps To Be Followed To Send Large Files
Step 1
Go to your application list and launch the ‘Mail’ app.

Step 2
Click on the ‘Mail’ tab overhead and select ‘Preferences’.

In the dialog box which opens select the 'iCloud' option on the left.

Tick the box which reads ‘Send Large Attachments with Mail Drop’.

Go back to your mailer and click on the 'Paper Clip' icon, this should allow you to attach files and folders.

Step 6
Hit send and your attached file should have been sent.

Things to note:
• Attachments sent via mail drop lasts for a period of 30 days within which it is to be downloaded by the recipient.
• There is usually no manual linking required between iCloud and Mail Drop, however if the option is unavailable, you can turn it on from the preferences menu in OS X Mail.
