If your laptop has a PCExpress slot, then you can install a wireless adapter card. Sadly, the slot seems to have been phased out in laptops within the last few years.

Oh wait... I didn't see the word "free".

My suggestion is to look for someone carrying a laptop, then sneak up on him / her, smack him / her hard on the head, then "barrow" the laptop. If you can manage to avoid getting caught and going to prison, then you did good.
