How to prevent my laptop from overheating?

Is it better to stable my laptop at lower Ghz or higher to keep it cool?

Depending on the model of processor, some can also be undervolted (if you know what you're doing), causing it to be able to run at the same speed, but run cooler. I did this with one of my laptops a couple years ago.
