Get an enclosure like I have linked below, and transfer the data to your laptop. The enclosure that I have linked takes a SATA hard drive, and outputs to USB 3.0. It should be backwards compatible if you only have USB 2.0 on your laptop.

It will be slow, but you will get your data, assuming the drive still works.
Don't mean to pick nits, but it sounds like the HDD in question is from a desktop PC. Aren't most desktop drives of the 3.5" variety? That enclosure is meant for 2.5" (laptop) drives.
As an alternative recover the HDD and the power supply. Then get a HDD to USB adapter and a power supply tester. Plug in the power supply tester and power up the supply. LEDs will show if it is OK. and HDD adapter on the drive. Power on and you should be able to feel the drive, with a finger tip, power up. It can be plugged into any USB port on any machine then.
Most computer parts sellers have these items or there is always Ebay.
Remove the drive. Connect it in your PC (not as OS drive). Recover the data - copy it to another drive. Then remove it.
A bit difficult to plug a 3.5" drive into a laptop. So one of the external solutions is the only option unless you have another PC when your solution would be best.
My PC is dead but I have a laptop and I want every single data in my Laptop from the PC. Please help.
but I am told that when the hard drive goes, it takes thousands to recover the data?? how can this be done so easily?
It depends why the PC is dead, if the HD has stopped working, then it can take money to recover the data (but as Nathaniel Phil said, there is free software out there that can try and do the job)
But the OP hasn't stated that their HD is dead, just that they have a dead PC, there are many causes of a dead PC, so it doesn't automatically mean that the HD is dead.

That all depends on what happened to your computer right before its death was the hard drive infected with a virus?
If so download Hirens bootable CD you most likely have to download it from c-net or a torrent site or buy one when it boots it will have an option called mini xp click on that and it will open a mini xp program in your RAM so you can go through the hard drive and save your files pictures etc.
then if its not infected and you wish to save it you can put the hard drive in another machine that is compatible with that hard drive put it in as a secondary or slave drive, or even put it in as the primary drive start the machine and go to "My Computer" and you will see either both drives or just that one depending on how you install it as a primary or slave and you can open it up and empty it.
but if you don't know what killed the computer take hard drive out and tryto put it in another computer that has a sound system and fire it up. Hope that helps you a bit. OH and the hirens has a anti virus installed in that mini xp so you should run it when you first get inside

That's why I ask people to post their build in my signature - to avoid confusion. I see a big difference between them when it comes to solving problems with them.
