How to Register an Amazon Fire TV

So you’ve purchased a new Amazon Fire TV and are excited to start streaming your Amazon Prime content to the big screen like never before. You won’t be able to get started, though, until your register your Amazon Fire TV. Use the steps below to do so.

Step 1
Amazon says that you have to connect your Amazon Fire TV to the internet before you can register it. If you don’t know how to do this, check the owner’s manual for your new device.

Step 2
Before you move further with the process, ask yourself where you purchased your Amazon Fire TV. If you got the device directly from Amazon, then it will already be registered to you and your Amazon.com account. If you bought it elsewhere—or if you just want to make sure it is registered to you—continue to step 3.

Step 3
Once you have connected your Amazon Fire TV to the internet, head to the Home screen. From there, select “Settings,” and then choose “My Account.” Here, you will be able to see if there is an Amazon.com account currently registered to your Fire TV

Step 4
If there is no account, select “Register” and follow the onscreen instructions to enter your login information and connect your account and your device.

Your Amazon Fire TV should now be linked with your Amazon.com account, which should give you access to free streaming content via Amazon Prime, as well as to Amazon.com movie and TV show downloads or rentals.
