How to remove startup password on aspire 5736Z-4460 laptop

at the very start up of my laptop, the password that is applied before the computer even starts up is not accepting the password that has been on there. i need to know how to remove this startup password so that i can access my stuff on the laptop. i need to know exactly what to do or how to do this. thanks.
