How to repair a Windows 11 using DISM Command Tool — Scan health and restore in 5 easy steps

Nov 29, 2011
Great article, I'm glad to see someone finally spell those two things out together. However there are a couple of things missing:

Before doing the DISM repair, first run chkdsk c: /f /r
in admin command prompt. Reboot to let the chkdsk run and repair the file system first. If file system errors are not first corrected, then dism repair and sfc are useless because the file corruption will just return.
Note: chkdsk must NOT be interrupted. If it is not allowed to complete, it could hose the whole file system.

Do the steps in the order listed:
1) chkdsk c: /f /r
2) dism online repair
3) sfc /scannow

Doing the steps out of order also is useless.
