How to Schedule a Post on Tumblr

Tumblr users have the option to create a post now, and schedule it for a later date and time. This is considered an advanced post option that you can use if you want to spread out your posts instead of filling your page with many updates a day. While writing a post, you will be able to alter the posting date with a mechanism located next to the “Post” button.

Step 1: In your dashboard, you will find your blog name. Next to your profile name, there will be a small arrow. Click the arrow to choose which blog you will post to. The dialogue box that appears is where you will create and alter the content for this post.

Step 2: In the dialogue box, you'll see a gear icon in the top right corner of the screen. Select the gear to add the content source, set a unique URL, set the post date, and allow replies. This will adjust the settings for this particular post, but not all posts. You have a text box in which you can type a title for your post, and a toolbar below to change the font, add hyperlinks, add photos, and customize your post.

Step 3: Instead of clicking the “Post” button to submit your post immediately, you can select the arrow next to that button. A dropdown menu will appear, and you should choose the “Publish on...” selection. Underneath, you will see a text box in which you can select a date and time.
Your post will not be published until the date and time that you entered. To access scheduled posts, find the “queue” button on the right side of the page. Select the appropriate blog and you will see posts that have been scheduled.

Recap: Spreading out your posts will make your Tumblr look less cluttered and will ensure that each post is located at the top of your Tumblr for a sufficient amount of time. Utilizing this advanced post option gives you another tool to improve your Tumblr page.
