How to set up fire stick to Onkyo surround sound?

We just received the Firestick but cannot figure out how to get it to go through the surround.

If your sources are connected directly to the TV and the audio output of the TV is connected to the Onkyo then connect the Firestick to the TV.
If your sources are connected directly to the Onkyo and the video output of that is connected to the TV then connect the Firestick to the Onkyo.

Plug the fire TV into a HDMI JACK on your receiver. Make sure the HDMI out is "YES"; Make sure that the HDMI allows passthrough by checking into Hardware Setup. Furthermore check to see if your provider allows Surround Sound. Amazon does, Hulu does not.
