How to test for blown speakers on a laptop

Hello,
my emachine laptop whistles when the volume is up so i shifted the speaker volume to the left and the sound was normal when i shifted it to the right you couldnt hear anything. Does this mean i have a blown speaker?

Not necessarily. It could have been a fluke with the particular file you were listening to, i.e. it may have not been coded in stereo properly. Try a few more songs out to make sure before ripping into it.

im not even listening to music it just whistles when the laptop is on and when i put the screen down it gets louder the farther the screen is pushed back the sound gets quieter.
