How to transfer a file from a laptop to a desktop

does anyone know how to transfer a file from a laptop to a desktop? I have a spreadsheet that I need to do my taxes for my business and I don't have the product key code for the laptop but I do for my desktop

Do you have a USB key? Copy it to that. Then copy it to your desktop.

Or email it to yourself via hotmail or yahoo or something...

Or burn it to a DVD, or CD.

There are so many ways - take your pick.

If the files are very, very big, best way is to strip the HDD from the laptop, plug it in the desktop, and transfer files. The ONLY problem you could have is that your hard disk is mSATA.

Don't you mean an "Program", not a "file"?
If the "program" is OEM to the original machine then you are out luck. You'd need the installer application.
