How to troubleshoot HP Spectre X360 Wi-Fi issues

Most laptops will have Wi-Fi issues at one point or another but usually they don’t reoccur as often as those that plague the X360. Lots of users have been complaining that the laptop takes an overly long time to connect to an existing network. If you’re having issues, here’s how to troubleshoot HP Spectre X360 Wi-Fi issues.

First we’ll begin with the basics, updating drivers and rebooting Windows. Then we will move on to more in-depth troubleshooting.

Troubleshoot HP Spectre X360 Wi-Fi issues
If your HP Spectre X360 is having Wi-Fi issues, follow these steps in order to troubleshoot.

1. Reboot your laptop and retest. This is always the first step when troubleshooting Windows.

2. Reboot your modem or router. The second logical step in network troubleshooting.
3. Right click the Windows Start button and select Device Manager.
4. Select your network card and look for a red or yellow warning. If there is something wrong with the driver, the warning will alert you.

5. Right click the Wi-Fi card and select Update Driver Software.
6. Select Automatic and let Windows find and install drivers. If Windows doesn’t find any, go to the HP Support site to manually download.
7. Open a CMD window as an administrator.

8. Type or paste ‘netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled’ and hit Enter.
9. Type or paste ‘netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled’ and hit Enter.

10. Type or paste ‘netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled’ and hit Enter.

11. Type or paste ‘netsh int tcp show global’ and hit Enter. This should show a list of IPv6 settings. All should be disabled except ‘Receive-Side Scaling State’.
12. Reboot your laptop and retest.

Those steps should reset your Wi-Fi settings and should return it to fully working condition once more. If that doesn’t work, you will need to resort to a Windows System Restore. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that!
