HP 200lx

Hi

Does anyone out there known much about the Hewlett Packard HP 200lx?
I stumbled across one on an ebay auction and may buy at some point in
the future since I collect old stuff like this. A quick google around
tells me that its an obsolete palmtop that had a full version of DOS
with CGA graphics and was 8086 compatible. There are a lot of dead
sites out there that used to support it.

What I really want to know is does anyone have one who knows if it
runs the REALLY old DOS games in all there glory. You know what I
mean - the sort of thing that is 17K and would run 1000 times too fast
on a mdoern computer if at all. The specs lead me to believe that
this is possible but has anyone actually done it?

Any info would be appreciated.

That's pretty accurate.

It has CGA graphics, but to a 2-level (may be 4 level) LCD screen. So,
lots of things won't work.

But any mono games would be just Fine.

Unlikely because its screen is only text and if you want the whole 640 x
480 the characters are minute.

It is a fantastic machine for its time, and until the T3 or UX50 was the
only really portable spreadsheet on the market.

Physical reliability is suspect - after several mains adapters just
lasted for their year guarantee, and after two case splits I have had to
give up and move to Palm.
