in order to remove the touchpad on this laptop, do i have to literally strip the thing down to a bare board? decent disassembly videos and documentation on this device seems scarce, but i need to find out why it isnt booting when the PSU is supplying voltage, and the battery is receiving voltage. to be specific, there are absolutely no signs of life with this laptop, nothing gets so much as a peep out of it. that said, i figure if i take a multimeter to it ill find out whats up with it eventually, and maybe try my hand at board repair.

also, if anyone has schematics for this board, i really, really would appreciate them.

yes, the whole thing needs to be stripped down. The touchpad is mounted directly to the top cover, the only way to remove the top cover is basically a full disassemble. This video should help you. It's for the 14" version of the same model line. We sell both 8460p and 8560p in my store, I've had to refurb both of these models before, and this video works for both.

As for the board schematic, it would be easier to find one if you look up the HP part number and then get the manufacturer / model of the specific board and go from there.
