HP Entertainment PC Laptop Black Screen

Hi I have an HP Entertainment PC Laptop that has a black screen when turned on. The lights on the keyboard/palmrest come on no problem (volume, muted speakers, red network light) I tried everything I could think of
Hard Reset > removing the AC power and Battery, Holding Power button etc.
Removing Memory > No beeps or anything
Removing HDD > No beeps or anything
The hard drive is seen on another computer when I use it externally
Tried attatching another monitor > Still no display on the monitor.

Is it a screen issue or a motherboard issue?

try to contact hp support or ask for a replacement if u have warranty, this doesnt seem like it could have a fix

This is a customers PC and I highly doubt that it is still in warranty

when you connected a monitor did you toggle the display?

and when you say black screen have you looked really close to see if theres actually anything there?--ie if the inverter has gone the screen will be black but can usually faintly see windows loading

I did toggle the display and it just kept saying check AV cable. I know the cable works because it works on the desktop that is there.
Looking close at it there is nothing there at all... just darkness
Spoke to the customer and they said that there was a purple line running across the bottom half of the screen before the screen had this issue.

normally toggling the display works

but have had one laptop where it didnt

i replaced the lcd ribbon which fixed it

i would try replacing the lcd ribbon as its the cheapest option rather than replacing the screen
