I had an HP G62-140us that got stolen a month ago, I called the police and they said that there was really nothing they could do unless it showed up in a pawn shop or by some other means,.. I also called HP to report it stolen and that about the only thing the customer service rep said was that all they could do was to flag it in their system as stolen and that if it ever came into one of their authorized repair facilities , it would pop up as a stolen laptop, but after doing some research on stolen laptops and recoveries I had a thought that maybe it is possible that the laptop could posibly have been sold on Craigslist or Ebay to an unsuspecting customer, and that if the person who bought it called Hp for Techinical Support over the phone or by E-mail, then would the "Stolen Flag" automatically pop up to let the tech know it was a stolen system? and What about if the person wanted to order a set of recovery disk in case of a HD Crash?.. I know you can order them automatically online without any customer support at all, would that also show up that it was stolen??. I know one of the first things I do when I get a new computer is make backup recovery disk and order a set from the manufacture just as a safety net.. maybe the person who bought it would do the same thing.. Anyway these were just a couple of questions I had and would appreciate any and all responses..

Like I said I have little hope in recovering it, but that little hope is always there.. Any HP customer service reps have any answers to the above questions?
