Hp laptop frozen

Tryed to restart laptop into safe mode but forgot my phone was plugged into it and now it is totally crashed and won't restart at all my original problem was not able to install a new anti virus

remove battery and charge cord (and phone)
hold down the power button for .... 30 seconds
plug the charge cord back in
try to start it ... any luck?
