I'm trying to fix an hp dv7. About a month ago it would only accept the AC power cord if it was already plugged in and I was just turning it on. If A ever unplugged it and plugged it back in, it would no longer recognize it. As of a few days ago its not powering on at all with the AC, only with the bettery which is dead and wont charge. I just got a new power cord about 2 months ago. I've stripped the whole computer down and took the power connecter in the laptop apart and bent all the metal prongs so they have a better connection to the cord. Now when i plug it in the light blinks once and when i take it out it blinks once. If I put the battery back in, the charge light on the front blinks for about 5 mins then goes off. I'm at a loss for what could be wrong now. Any help would be appreciated.

The dv series are troublesome. If you took apart your laptop then do it again and check along the power lines while you have the laptop plugged in. Use a magnifying glass to take a closer look (a crack, damaged components, etc.) If everything's ok then the issue might lie with charger itself. If you want to open it up u can with a kife and patience and then u can glue it back together.

PS: Only do this if you have some degree of electronics knowledge
