HP Laptop powering up to black screen.

Trying to fix a laptop for a friend, but when turned on it is just a black screen, no windows bootup or bios or anything of the sort. Strangely, when pressing control alt delete, the screen turns off then on for a moment. What sort of troubleshooting should I go through? Edit: After waiting for about 20 minutes the HP logo came up, but that's all.

Try to remove the battery and hold down the turn on button for about 5 secs, later connect the ac adapter and try to start it. Try to remove your ram, hard drive, DVD drivea and wireless card
