I guess the following step can be taken with any laptop:
1. Click control panel >>>> click hardware and sound >>>> click on power options >>>>> disable hybrid sleep >>>reboot.
(Test laptop if no change move to step 2)
2. Click start button >>>> click all programs >>>> navigate to accessories >>>>> right click command prompt and type:
sfc /scannow (press enter and let it scan, if errors are found it will repair)
Now type: powercfg -restoredefaultschemes (press enter)
Type: exit (to exit command prompt then reboot)
