HP laptop shuts down prematurely

I recently replaced my laptop battery, and I am afraid that maybe I didn't "break it in"properly. Now it only goes down to appr. 60% power, then it abruptly shuts down without prior warning. Is there a way to fix this dilemna, short of buying another battery pls...???

Well, if the battery you got is an after market one, that may well be your problem. Although after market stuff works great for some things, when it comes to laptop batteries, they aren't the best choice.

If this is the case, I would really consider returning the battery and getting an OEM one.
