HP Laptop Turns on and off repeatedly

I have hp 6910p.It turns on and off automatically.Sometimes screen goes black only power light is on which turns of in 2-3 secs.Also sometimes when i touch it it turns off.
i cant work and keep losing my data

Hi,

Just have couple of question to help us all identify the issue.
- Does it happen even the charger is connected or not?
- When it turns off and on does it start from the Welcome screen or does it come back on where you last worked?

Please do try these troubleshooting steps.
- Do a hard reset first, remove the battery and AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Plug just the AC adapter back in and see if it will do the same thing. Put the battery in as well when it's not rebooting on it's own then observe the laptop once again.
- If you're also saying that when you touch the screen it causes the laptop to turn off, what i'm thinking is something is short circuiting inside that causes it to reboot on itself.
- The best solution is to contact HP if it's still under the factory warranty so they can have it repaired.
