hp laptop when i click on something in my emails to open the page. it won't open it anymore

This has suddenly happened. when I am reading my emails and I click on the link given, to open it.
It no longer works. Apart from that it is working fine. It's a hp laptop.
I am not at all technically minded. Being a 60 year old female. So, I am looking for an easy fix to my problem please!! I have had the laptop about 3 years and have learned, as I've gone along. How to use it and do things. I had no problem before opening links. It also happens on other pages. I can't open the links. I've looked in my settings. But don't know what to do.
Can anyone suggest what the issue is and how to correct it please

Is this an email that you have downloaded, and is being accessed in a specific email program? Or is it mail you are accessing through a webmail in your browser?
