Hi I have a hp pavilion d6v the problem I have is when I turn on the laptop it flickers after about 20 seconds then shuts down, I can't get to the start up screen or anything

Hi, try with just the adapter, without the battery. After just the battery without the adapter. And come back with the result.

I have, I've also tried holding down the start up button for a minute with out the adaptor and battery out and this still doesn't work, when I turn it on it recommends me to start up in windows repair which I have to do if I try and start up normally it just takes me back to that screen, it was working fine earlier until the laptop turned off due to over heating (this has happened before) and since then I've had this problem

Did you try powering up in safe mode.

Yeah it just brings me back to the same screen and tells me to do a startup repair thing
