I have an HP zv5405us laptop (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00286662&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=447440). It currently houses a mini pci Broadcom 802.11a/b/g card in it. I would like to upgrade it to an 802.11n card. I've heard here and there that there have been issue with HP and hardware whitelists?

Does anyone know if I can pull and replace the oem card relatively pain free?

Solution
You'll probably have a headache at the end of it. HP's aren't too receptive to that sort of upgrade; at least in my experience. Your best bet would be to go with an expansion port card, i.e. the little slot on the side of the laptop. Buy one of those, slide it in, disable the the old one and you should be good to go.
