Hp15-r015dx k-eyboard acting wacky

Hi I recently purchased said laptop. At first everything was fine. At some point the 9 key on the num pad started thinking it was being pressed SOMETIMES not all the time. which makes me wonder if its a software issue. Anyone have any idea how to fix this? aside from purchasing a new kb which is what a repair sho[p would do. they don't think this is a warranty issue so I cant get it fixed that way. please any suggestipons would be great I just boiught this thing and this issue makes it EXTREMELY stressfull to try to type a paper or even surf the web. with either a 9 or a pg up randomly occurring. the key is removed and it still malfunctions- running win 8.1. the ony way im typing now is to hold pg dn AND that barely works

Your warranty should cover it. Any sort of hardware failure not caused by the user is generally covered under basic 1-year warranty that most laptops come with.
