I am on school site and I need to make the square root sign from computer. Its an hp laptop

I am trying how to make a square root sign with my computer and have no idea how I do not have number lock because it is a laptop

Hold down ALT key and type 251 (ASCII code)

can also go to go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map. Scroll down until you find the √ symbol and double-click it. Then you can paste it.

With the ALT 251 may need to click the Fn key to activate the numeric keypad
