I am trying to get speakers to work. hey are connected to a subwoofer and then to the back of my tv in audio output but I get

I connected a subwoofer with speakers to my tv audio output and get nothing but a buzz any suggestions?

Make and model numbers would be helpful.
If these are not self powered speakers you won't get any sound without adding an amplifier to drive the speakers.
