A 7A 12VDC adapter is pretty small for using a car audio amplifier. What size amp is it? If it is a couple hundred watts (typical for car audio) it needs 20 to 40A input. The specs for the amp should provide the input required.

If the car amp has a fuse the amperage value of that fuse will give you some idea of the current draw is has.
