I bought a used acer aspire one laptop, now what?

Bought it used, factory reset it, downloaded chrome and MaAfee, don't have the money for driver updates yet but going to. I'm computer illiterate, so is there anything i need to do? Registration, what's that? I use wireless hotspots for internet access.

First thing I'd do is up the RAM to the max it will take (probably 2GB).

Get rid of Mcafee. It's useless. The only thing that'll do is crash the system forever.
