i cant figure this out

I have a 42 inch lg tv that just turned off the red light is on so it has power any suggestions

shine a flashlight thru the screen and see if its just the backlight is off (fairly common)

The red light just indicates that the AC is connected. If the power supply has a problem the set will not come on. Very common is bad capacitors on the power supply board. If you don't have the skill to solder in new ones you may be able to get a new board.
