I have an mp4 actually and i put a song on there but i don't get any sound.

Need full details, mp4 is a file type, you don't put a song on there. What do you have, what are you trying to play?

If you put a audio file on your mp3 player it may not be a file type that is compatible with that player. Check the specs of the player. It may not support FLAC or OGG for instance.
