Solved! I can't log onto my HP laptop

I opened my laptop.. I usually use a pin not a password but I saw password and a different hint..that u didn't enter. I tried in my password but its not working.. Please what do I do

Different user? is it using a Microsoft account?

if you are using a MS account like hotmail or outlook then you can go to outlook.com and reset your password. if it is a local account then no one here will be able to help you because of their policy on password protected devices

Thank you so much for your concern.. I was able to remember the first password I used..its a local account.. But I would like to know why it went back to the old password..thank you
