I have a 12 year old JVC DVD player and I want to connect it to my new Vizio E65-F1

Since what you have isn't just a DVD player but a surround sound system with DVD built in it assumes that you are using the attached speakers for sound not the TV speakers. That's why there is no audio output for the TV. If you have to you can use a speaker to line level converter to connect the front speaker outputs to the TV. The volume of the JVC has to be keep low so you don't overload the TV. I don't think it''s worth the effort since you can get an actual blueray disc player with HDMI cheap enough if you don't use the JVC as a surround sound. You will get a much better picture with a new BD player.

I was able to get a good color picture. But the TV has a blue a green two red and one yellow connections. I've tried moving everything around and end up with no picture or a black and white picture. I can get a good color picture but all I get is static for sound.

Are you trying to use the TV's speakers for sound? The proper video connections should be grouped together, Green,Blue,Red and labeled as "Component Video in" on the TV and "Component Video out" on the DVD player. If you connect the blue to blue, green to green, and red to red, you should be good to go.

Using the yellow, white and red connectors I connected green to green, blue to blue and red toe red. I have a beautiful picture but not sound. Since there are two red and one white, I tried moving the red to a different red got static but no change and red to white got static but no change. Got a second set of RCA cables and tried connecting whit and red from the TV to Audio in VCR and Video out and Video in, as expected had no effect. I have the TV volume turned up to 80 and the DVD player volume turned almost all the way up. I may just have to buy a new DVD player.

The Blue, Green, and red connectors are strictly for video, and there is no audio signal on them. Looking at the manual for your DVD player, there are NO line level stereo audio outputs, and your TV requires line level inputs. You cannot connect the speaker(amplified) outputs from the DVD to a line level input on the TV as that will blow out the audio amps on the TV.
Line level is typically less than 1 volt, while speaker level is easily 10 times that.

Thank you I believe you are right. The surround sound speakers were the wire type that you insert the wire into a peg. That's not an option on this TV.
