Question I have a emachine laptop. It powers on for about five seconds then power off

My emachine laptop power on for about five second then off with the fan running during that time, there is no display. What should i do. All anwers are appreciated.

Most likely thing is a bad motherboard. Need a bit more details here, model of laptop, did this just start out of no-where or did something else happen, was the system sitting unused for a long time?
