I have a Lenovo thinkpad T420. The keyboard started acting weird. I factory reset my computer, and it still isn't working.

Try this and see if it helps...

1. Uninstall the keyboard driver.
2. Reboot the computer. (Yes without reinstalling the driver just yet.)
3. When the computer restarts it should reinstall the driver on its own.

I did that, and my keyboard is still acting weird. Backspace turns on caps on, when I press the letter n, it shows up as nj, etc

If the driver didn't fix it I have to ask, was anything spilled on it or dropped on it? The keyboard that is. This could cause the problem.

When I say dropped I don't mean liquid. More like an item dropped on the keyboard, or the laptop itself dropped. If neither of these, Next I would try connecting an external keyboard... Turn off the laptop, connect a keyboard via USB and then turn the laptop on. Do all the keys on it work correctly for you, or are you getting the same problem?

My headphones (bulky) were on the keyboard, plus a magazine.

Unless they were dropped and caused harm, or where weighing on it for a long while, I don't see those causing damage. However, stranger things have happened.
