I want my video to play through my projector, and my audio to play through my receiver, but there is no separate audio hookup that I noticed on the PS4. there was one however on my PS3. how do I get sound through my receiver?

Can you use HDMI from the PS4 to the receiver?

Check to see if your projector might split off the audio for you. It may have audio outputs which can be connected to the receiver.
