I Have a wifi input device that I want to tie straight to some unpowered speaker, is it possible?

Using an airport express is there a straight connection (or some cannibalised system) to plug straight into some unpowered speakers?
Just don't want a huge CD/radio/tape stereo when I only want to play my music from my phone/computer.

This could be any old smartphone / iPod if you insist on WiFi, paired with some amplifier.

For playing music from your phone/computer, Bluetooth is better option, in that case you need something like this.

You will need to add an amplifier to the speakers regardless of the source. You might need it to have a volume control. Doesn't need to be much power or large
