I have a yamaha rxv793 receiver and a samsung 65" 4k tv. how to I connect them to use surround sound

I am trying to connect my surround sound to the new tv and I'm getting no sound

Optical audio output of the TV to optical input on the receiver.
Check both manuals on how to use the optical output on the TV and how to configure the receiver to use that input.
