My new i7 build will be complete in a week or so and I have come to the point where i must find a way to protect it.

This is a build for heavy gaming and all my school work, which is a lot. All the security suites out there have a mixed bag of opinions that are for and against them.

I am looking for one of those "total care" kind of things.

Price is no matter here. I can pay what i need to.

The things coming up often are:

Norton 2010

Kaspersky 2010

G-Data

nod32

AVAST

bitdefender

Mcafee

I have never used any of these before and I don't know which is best.

What do you guys suggest and please give a reason.

gamrWraith00,

Have you seen Immunet Protect in your search? It is a free community-centric, cloud AntiVirus software- fairly new, but free and so far users seem happy with it. Software doesn't conflict with other AV programs, i.e. McAfee or Microsoft, so if you'd like you can run the two in tandem.

It's pretty cool-- Every time someone in the Immunet's community encounters a threat everyone else in the community gains protection from that same threat in real time (no virus definition updates!). Here's a link-- check it out: http://www.immunet.com/
